hey guys,
A while back we were talking about other trips since apparently some people are getting tired of the North Shore. This past weekend I went Canoeing on the St. Croix River. We did a 15 mile trip from Interstate State Park to William O'Brian State Park. Along the way there are many campsites for overnight trips. These campsites are controlled by the NPS. I forgot that I did a trip like this with my first Boy Scout Troop 282 out of St. Louis Park. We were out for 4 nights, moving each day. It's a fairly easy trip to put together, permits are free, we just find an outfitter to rent canoes from and take us up river and then we canoe back to the outfitter (just like the Apple River, except longer). Rules and regulations vary depending on where you are on the river, and where you camp. As you get further south toward the Twin Cities there are more rules because of the asshole powerboaters. (I suggest we stay to the north). I don't know if anyone is interested, but I thought I'd share the idea anyway. I guess it depends on if we are a backpacking-only group or not.
Also, if anyone is interested, I finished my sailing certification and I can now rent sailboats up to 50 feet in length anywhere in the world. If anyone wants to take a sailing adventure next year, let me know!
